Hand gestures in Korea

I think there would be a few hand gestures that American foreigners don’t understand in Korea. First, we don’t use hand gestures often. I’ve seen Korean is more static than Americans. Second, we know typical American hand gestures and use those.

However, there is still something that Americans don’t know. For example, in Korea, when we call someone to come here with a hand gesture, the palm facing is opposite to American’s gesture and we also use whole fingers and wrist. Otherwise it could be something wrong. Another example is that using two hands is polite in Korea. When someone does handshake, receive stuff, or give stuff, he should use two hands to keep the etiquette, especially for elder person it is matter.

There could be more hand gestures that Americans don’t know, but I think it is enough to know before going to Korea.
